Court Services
The Court Services Unit is comprised of 14 Deputies and 3 Deputy supervisors commanded by Sergeant Gary West. The Court Services Unit provides service to Common Pleas, Probate, Domestic Relations, Juvenile, and Municipal Courts, as well as the Department of Human Services. The Court Services Unit coordinated and assisted in 144 prisoner extraditions in 2007, returning wanted persons from various jurisdictions throughout the United States. In 2007 the Court Services Unit completed almost 20,000 prisoner transports between the county jail and court; and to and from state and federal penal institutions. The Court Services Unit is also responsible for transports to and from various treatment & medical facilities, and service of probate orders. Individual Deputies assigned to the Court Services Unit contribute to other functions of the Sheriff's Office such as the Wellness Program, Special Response Team, Defensive Tactics, Dive Team, and police and corrections academy instruction. Members of this unit receive specialized training from the following agencies; the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center- U.S. Marshall's Service Academy in Georgia, the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy, the Supreme Court of Ohio, New Mexico Tech Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center, the Center for Domestic Preparedness, U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Public Agency Training Council, and the State of Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services.
