On Monday 05/01/17 at 2:14 pm the Clermont County Communications Center received a 911 call in reference to a male subject walking on Doe Run Court, Batavia Twp. Clermont County with a hand gun. The caller stated that the male subject discharged the handgun twice, as he walked out of her sight. Sheriff’s Patrol units responded and discovered that the male with the handgun was a homeowner, who resides in the 200 block of Park Meadow Dr., in the same subdivision as Doe Run Court. The homeowner advised Sheriff’s Deputies that he confronted three masked subjects, who were attempting to break into his neighbor’s residence, at which time, one of the masked subjects brandished a firearm and fired at him. The homeowner, reportedly returned fire with his handgun, and the three masked subjects fled the area on foot. There have been no injuries reported at this time.
A Sheriff’s K-9 unit was called to the scene and ran a track in an attempt to locate the three masked subjects. The K-9 track was called off due to witnesses reporting that the subjects arrived in an unknown make/model white vehicle, and the K-9 track failing to leave the immediate area. Sheriff’s Office Investigative Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene reference processing.
This investigation is ongoing at this time and additional details will be provided as they become available. Names and addresses of reporting parties will not be released at this time due to victim safety and ongoing investigative considerations.
