Captain Jeff Sellars

 

Jeff Sellars began his law enforcement career after graduating from The Southern Hills Police Institute in 1991 and joined the Sheriff’s Office as a road patrol deputy in 1993.  Jeff was assigned to the Traffic Safety Division in 1997 where he served until 2000.  In 2000 he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and again to the rank of Sergeant in 2003 as a Road Patrol Supervisor.  In August 2013, Jeff was promoted to the rank of Captain where he oversees the daily operations of the Court Services Division, Motorcycle Patrol Division, Dive Team operations, School Safety Programs, Outreach Officer, and all Social Media feeds.  Jeff has also served in several special units throughout his 23 years at the Sheriff’s office.  He was a member of the Special Response Team from 1994-1997, Task Force One; a multi-agency under water rescue and recovery team from 1994-2011 and served as Commander of this team for 15 of those 17 years.  He has been a member of the Honor Guard Unit since 1997 and continues to serve in this capacity.  Additionally Jeff is certified in Crisis Intervention and has recently become a Crisis Intervention Team Instructor.  He was the recipient of the Sheriff’s Medal of Honor in 2007 and the Sheriff’s Merit Award in 2008.  Jeff is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Criminal Justice. On July 18th, 2015 Captain Sellars graduated from the FBI National Academy Session 261.
