Captain McConnell began with the Sheriff’s Office in February of 1994 as a Corrections Officer. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in January 1999. In May of 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant as a Shift Commander until his promotion to the rank of Lieutenant in December of 2010. He now holds the rank of Captain, and is responsible for security operations of the Jail. He is a 1988 graduate of Wilmington College with a degree in Political Science.
