On February 8th, 2022, at approximately 1200pm, administrators from New Richmond High School, located at 1131 Bethel New Richmond Rd. New Richmond Ohio, were advised by an anonymous tip that a 15 year old male, a 9th grade student, stated he was going to cause harm to another student with a lighter.  Within minutes, the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer (SRO), along with school administrators, removed the student from class.  The student’s locker was searched and two lighters were located.

The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office SRO conducted a complete investigation, which included an interview with the 9th grade student who made the verbal threats.  During the interview, the student admitted to the staff and the SRO, that he did  in fact threaten to harm another student.

The student in question was removed from the school property, released to his parents and has been placed on suspension pending further disciplinary processes.

On February 9, 2022, this investigation was reviewed in its entirety with the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office and the male student has been charged with one count of Aggravated Menacing, a Misdemeanor of the first degree, and one count of Inducing Panic, a Felony second degree.

No students were injured during this incident.
