Clermont County Sheriff’s Office investigates a shooting in the Braxton Park Subdivision, Batavia Township
Update: The female victim has been identified as Casey Hamblin Moss, female age 39: reported to be homeless at this time.
The investigation has revealed that this was not a random act of violence. This incident stemmed from a drug transaction, a dispute over money, which led to a chase and inevitably the shooting incident described below.
This investigation remains ongoing at this time and details will be release as they develop.
Clermont County Sheriff’s Office investigates a shooting in the Braxton Park Subdivision, Batavia Township
On January 17, 2023 at 6:45pm, the Clermont County Communications Center received a 911 call from a female reporting that her son had arrived at her residence, located in the 3800 block of Magnolia Dr. Batavia Township, with his girlfriend who had been shot.
Road Patrol Deputies arrived on the scene at 6:51pm and located an adult female lying unresponsive in the driveway of the residence. Central Joint Fire/EMS responded to the scene, however the victim had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene for further investigation and processing. The son of the original 911 caller advised detectives that his girlfriend was shot as they were driving on Golden Meadow, near the intersection of Bach Grove Ct. in Batavia Township, by an occupant of a second vehicle also driving on Golden Meadow.
The Clermont County Coroner’s Office responded and transported the deceased to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.
The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification to the next of kin.
The investigation into this shooting remains ongoing. Additional details will be provided as they develop.

On November 3, 2022, at approximately 11:00 am, school administrators at West Clermont Middle School, located at 1341 Clough Pike, Batavia Township , were made aware of an 6th grade student who was displaying a list of names, to include students, whom he plan to harm. Administrators initiated an investigation then immediately contacted the Clermont County Sheriff’s School Resource Officer, who was on campus. Based on information received, the school staff conducted a search of the student’s property and recovered the list of names from the student.
The SRO took possession of the list of names and contacted the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Unit, who responded to the middle school for further investigation. The student told detectives he had made a “hit list” but further stated he had no intentions of carrying it out.
The male student, age 11, was removed from the school and released to his parents. Detectives have confirmed the student did not have means or access to any firearms. This investigation was reviewed with the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office and it was determined that one count of Disorderly conduct in a school zone, a misdemeanor of the fourth degree would be filed through Juvenile Court.

On 10/16/22, the Clermont County Communications Center received a call from a concerned parent in reference to a Clermont Northeastern Middle School student, age 11, who allegedly had a list of people titled “people who make me mad” and told a number of students that he had a gun. The reporting parent learned of this from her 11 year old son while they were at a birthday party with friends. The parent added this information was not first hand information at the time she was reporting it.
The Sheriff’s Office has thoroughly investigated this complainant. Deputies have spoken with the Middle School student’s parents who were previously made aware of the allegation by Middle School Staff on Friday 10/14/22. During the investigation, it was confirmed the student had no weapons or access to any weapons.
This incident was reviewed with the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office who concurred that the threat was unsubstantiated.
No charges filed in this case.
