On 1-11-21 at 9:24pm, the Clermont County Communications Center received a 911 call from a resident of an apartment located at 28 Church St. in Batavia Township, reporting a female subject was lying unresponsive inside of the apartment.  Central Joint EMS and deputies from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and located the female subject inside of an apartment deceased. Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and met with the Clermont County Coroner’s Office, who pronounced the female deceased at 11:42pm.

The cause of death is unknown at this time. The deceased was transported to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

The identification of the deceased has not been confirmed.

Arrests Made: Update

Clermont County Sheriff Robert S. Leahy reports that an arrests has been made in connection with the death investigation on Church St. in Batavia Township Clermont County.

Detectives from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, have charged Kilo Nigel “Mike” Moton , age 51, for his involvement in the death of the female at 28 Church St in Batavia Township, which is believed to have occurred Saturday January 9, 2021 at their residence located at 28 Church St.  The female in question has been positively identified by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office as Mary Megan Applegate, age 36.

Moton is the father of Applegate’s two children, however the two were not married. “Moton is truly the worst of the worst. To violently murder the mother of one’s children, is simply unimaginable.”  Sheriff  Robert S. Leahy

Kilo Nigel “Mike” Moton has been charged with one count of Murder, a felony of the first degree. Moton was taken into custody without incident at 5:33pm by Hamilton County law enforcement agencies on his outstanding warrant from Springfield Township Police Department.

Moton was transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center where he is being held without bond.

Moton will appear for his arraignment at the Hamilton County Justice Center on January 13th 2021 at 9am.

This investigation will be reviewed in its entirety with the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office and presented to the Grand Jury for consideration of additional charges.
