Wayne Township woman charged with shooting inside a house and setting fire

On Monday, June 29th, 2026, at approximately 4:18 p.m., the Clermont County Communications Center received a 911 call from a residence in the 5900 block of Newtonsville Road in Wayne Township, Clermont County. The caller reported that Crystal Foster had discharged a firearm inside the residence following an argument that had continued throughout the day.

Clermont County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched and arrived on scene at 4:32 p.m. Upon arrival deputies also discovered Foster had set fire to curtains inside the residence. The fire was extinguished by another resident in the home, and there were no signs of an active fire.  Deputies confirmed there was nobody injured during this incident.  Foster was detained for further questioning.

The Clermont County Sheriff's Office Investigations Unit was notified, and detectives responded to initiate an investigation.  Detectives interviewed multiple adult witnesses who provided consistent accounts of the incident.  Witnesses reported that Foster intentionally set the home's curtains on fire, stating she was "going to burn this place down." They also reported hearing a loud "pop" coming from a bedroom inside the residence.

Foster initially told Deputies that she had been drinking and fired the weapon “to prove a point.”  When Detectives interviewed Foster, she indicated she wasn’t sure why she lit the curtains on fire and admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages throughout the day.  Foster also told Detectives she fired the weapon to “show them she was serious and to make a point.”

Foster was arrested without incident and charged with:

(1) count of Aggravated Arson, a felony of the 1st degree

(2) counts of Aggravated Menacing, both misdemeanors of the 1stdegree

(1) count of Using Weapons while Intoxicated, a misdemeanor of the 1st degree

Foster was transported by deputies to the Clermont County Jail where she is currently incarcerated without bail.  Foster is scheduled to appear for an arraignment Tuesday June 30th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Clermont Couty Municipal Courthouse.

Any additional inquiries related to this indictment or pending charges should be directed to the Clermont County Prosecutors Office at 513-732-7313.
