On June 19th, 2026, at 10:37 a.m., the Clermont County Communications
Center received a 911 call regarding an unresponsive two-year-old male in the
2100 block of Laurel Lindale Road of Monroe Township. During the call,
the 911 call taker overheard information suggesting the child may have ingested
marijuana.
Deputies with the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office and
Monroe Township EMS responded to the scene. The child was determined to
be in stable, non-life-threatening condition and was immediately transported to
Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center for further medical evaluation and
treatment. Medical test results indicated the child tested positive for
cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are chemical compounds found in cannabis plants that
produce various physical and psychological effects.
Detectives from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office
Investigations Division responded and initiated an investigation into the
circumstances surrounding the incident. During the investigation, the
child’s mother, Brooklyn Maffey, provided a statement indicating she was
uncertain as to the cause of the child’s medical condition but provided
investigators with information regarding events and activities occurring prior
to the incident.
As the investigation progressed, detectives identified a
residence in the 1100 block of Ivy Farm Way in Pierce Township as the likely
location of the incident. Information developed during the investigation
further identified an adult male William Wilson residing at that location who
was suspected of cultivating and trafficking marijuana.
On June 22nd, 2026, detectives with the Clermont
County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and Clermont County Narcotics
Task Force, with assistance from the Pierce Township Police Department,
executed a search warrant at the residence on Ivy Farm Way.
Items seized during the execution of the Search Warrant:
During the execution of the search warrant, Wilson voluntarily provided a
statement to detectives regarding the incident involving Maffey and her child.
He also acknowledged having direct knowledge of how the child came into
contact with the substance. Following the interview, Wilson was
transported to the Clermont County Jail and charged with one count of
Having Weapons Under Disability, a third-degree felony; one count of Illegal
Cultivation of Marijuana, a fourth-degree felony; and one count of Trafficking
in Drugs, a fifth-degree felony.
On June 23rd, 2026, Wilson appeared before
Clermont County Municipal Court Magistrate Matthew Graber for his arraignment.
Wilson was provided with a $20,000 cash/surety bond. On the same date,
Wilson posted bond and was released on reporting bond. He is next
scheduled to appear before Clermont County Municipal Court Judge Katherine
Terpstra on July 2nd, 2026, 1:00p.m. for his preliminary hearing.
After today’s indictment, Maffey and Wilson were arrested
without incident by deputies with the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office and
transported to the Clermont County Jail where they will be held without
bond. Both Maffey and Wilson are scheduled to appear before
Clermont County Common Pleas Judge Jason Nagel on July 1st, 2026, at
10:00 A.M. for their arraignments on the charges outlined in the
above-described indictment.
The case through Clermont County Municipal Court involving
Wilson will be dismissed due to the aforementioned indictments. Any
future proceedings related to this incident involving Wilson will continue
through the Clermont County Common Pleas Court.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges
may be pursued pending laboratory analysis of items located during this
incident.
Any additional inquiries related to this indictment or pending charges should be directed to the Clermont County Prosecutors Office at 513-732-7313.
