West Clermont Middle School Threat

On April 10, 2025, at approximately 3:00 pm, school administrators at West Clermont Middle School, located at 1341 Clough Pike, Batavia Township, were notified of a threat on Snapchat by an 8th-grade male student. The message included threats to shoot up the school. Administrators immediately contacted the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer (SRO). The SRO noted that Students had already been released for the day and were in transit home when the threat was reported. The SRO notified the Sheriff's Office Investigative Unit, and Detectives immediately began an investigation.

A 13-year-old male 8th-grade student was identified as the single student who made the threat on Snapchat and also threatened three students while on the bus.Detectives interviewed the male, who was cooperative and stated that he had made the threat because he was angry that his girlfriend had been suspended from school earlier in the day. He added that he did not intend to carry out any threat to the school, students, or staff. Detectives made contact with the student's family, who confirmed he does not have access to any weapons.

This investigation was reviewed with the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office. It was determined that 3 counts of Aggravated Menacing, all misdemeanors of the first degree, and 1 count of Disorderly Conduct in a School Zone, a Misdemeanor of the fourth degree, would be filed through Clermont County Juvenile Court.

The student was transported to the Clermont County Juvenile Detention Center and placed on suspension pending further disciplinary processes by School Officials.
