A Dayton, Ohio man has been arrested by the Clermont County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force for the distribution of illegal narcotics in Clermont County. Zachary William Cavanaugh, age 27, has been arrested and charged with:
(1) count of Trafficking in Marijuana, a Felony of the 2nd degree
(1) count of Possession of Marijuana, a Felony of the 2nd degree
On February 5th, 2025, at 12:03 pm, Clermont County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies stopped a vehicle on 275 south of State Route 28 in Miami Township for an equipment violation. Deputies contacted and identified the driver and sole occupant as Cavanaugh. Shortly after, a probable cause search was conducted at which time 43 pounds of high-grade Marijuana was recovered from the vehicle. Cavanaugh was taken into custody and transported to the Clermont County Jail after refusing to cooperate with deputies. Cavanaugh’s 2018 BMW 550i was impounded and secured as evidence by the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office.
Subsequently, Detectives with the Clermont County Narcotics Task Force (which consists of Clermont Deputies, police officers from Union and Pierce Township Police Departments, an analyst from the Ohio National Guard, and an Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration) along with members of Montgomery County’s Regional Agencies Narcotics & Gun Enforcement (RANGE) Task Force, followed up the traffic stop with the execution of a search warrant at Cavanaugh’s residence in the 1300 block of Patterson Road, in Dayton, Ohio of Montgomery County.
During the execution of the Search Warrant detectives seized:
Total street value of seized narcotics is estimated at $117,240.00
Zachary Cavanaugh attended his arraignment on the above listed charges at the Clermont County Municipal Court, on February 6th, 2025, in front of Magistrate Matthew Graber, where he was given a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
He is currently scheduled to appear on February 18th, 2025, in front of Visiting Judge Thomas Herman of Clermont County Municipal Court.
This investigation remains ongoing. The case will be reviewed with the Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of additional charges to be presented to a Grand Jury.
