Jacob Marcum, age 22, and Lydia Wright, age 21, both of Batavia Township, Clermont County, were indicted by the Clermont County Grand Jury on December 2^nd, 2025, for the following charge:

(1) count of Endangering Children, a felony of the 3^rd degree

These charges stem from an incident reported on Thursday, October 16^th, 2025. Detectives from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office were notified by a social worker at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) that a one-month-old male infant was being treated in the Emergency Department for a concerning laceration that was suspected to be the result of non-accidental trauma.

Detectives responded to CCHMC and interviewed the infant’s parents, Jacob Marcum and Lydia Wright. Both denied any knowledge of how the injury occurred and confirmed they were the only adults present in the home at the time. Marcum stated he discovered the injury while changing the child’s diaper. Neither parent contacted 911 to obtain emergency medical assistance.

Detectives later executed a search warrant on the family residence in the College Hill apartment complex, located in the 500 block of University Lane of Batavia Township.

Based on the timeline provided, Marcum and Wright waited more than an hour before leaving their residence to seek medical care. They first drove to a closed urgent care facility, then continued to the CCHMC Urgent Care Center in Anderson Township, where the child ultimately required transport by ambulance to CCHMC. When questioned about the decision not to call 911, they indicated they believed driving would be the quickest way to reach medical assistance.

Marcum and Wright were taken into custody today by Sheriff’s deputies without incident and are currently being held at the Clermont County Jail without bond. They are scheduled to appear for arraignment before Clermont County Common Pleas Judge Anthony Brock on Wednesday December 3^rd, 2025, at 10:00 am.
