Clermont County Sheriff Chris Stratton Releases Statement Following Indictment of Illegal Alien

Sheriff Stratton announces the indictment of Cristian Nunez-Guzman for multiple charges involving inappropriate sexual contact with minors. Nunez-Gusman was indicted today by the Clermont County Grand Jury on the following:

  • (1) count of Rape, a felony of the 1st degree
  • (1) count of Gross Sexual Imposition, a felony of the 3rd degree

If convicted on all charges, Nunez-Guzman faces a maximum penalty of 21.5 years in prison.

On January 1st, 2026, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center contacted the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office regarding a juvenile who disclosed inappropriate sexual contact by a known individual. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office immediately initiated an investigation and contacted the juvenile’s mother, who reported that her other minor daughter had also disclosed inappropriate contact involving the same individual. Both juveniles separately identified Cristian Nunez-Guzman, age 35, as the perpetrator.

On January 2nd, 2026, Nunez-Guzman was arrested by the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office without incident and transported to the Clermont County Jail. Nunez-Guzman has been held since on a $350,000.00 bond.

The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Department of Homeland Security regarding the citizenship of Nunez-Guzman. Nunez-Guzman was confirmed to be a native and citizen of Mexico who was previously deported from the United States in 2012. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Nunez-Guzman’s 2012 deportation stemmed from a conviction that originated in Cobb County Superior Court (State of Georgia) for several 2007 narcotics related charges.

Homeland Security confirmed there was no known information about how Nunez-Guzman returned to the United States since he was deported in 2012, after his Order for Removal was executed.

Nunez-Guzman is currently in the United States illegally.

He will remain incarcerated at the Clermont County Jail on his local charges, along with an I.C.E. detainer. Once Nunez-Guzman’s Clermont County charges are resolved, his “Final Order for Removal” will be reinstated, and he will again be deported.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office worked closely with the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office from the beginning of this investigation. Due to the ages of the victims, additional details related to this investigation are being withheld.

All inquiries related to this indictment are to be directed to the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office at (513) 732-7313.

“This investigation reaffirms the importance of full cooperation between the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office and our federal partners, including ICE. When individuals pose a clear threat to public safety, especially when crimes involve children, there is no room for hesitation or political posturing. Timely sharing of information with federal authorities is essential to prevent further violence.

Public safety is not negotiable. The mission of my office is straightforward: enforce the law, protect victims, and ensure the safety of the citizens of Clermont County. We will work with any law enforcement agency necessary to identify, arrest, and remove violent criminals who are in this country illegally.

When someone who is in this country unlawfully commits a serious crime, particularly against a child, law enforcement has a duty to act swiftly and decisively. Refusing to cooperate with federal law enforcement allows dangerous offenders to remain free and puts innocent lives at risk. Clermont County will not be a safe haven for violent criminals.”

Sheriff Chris Stratton

Nunez-Guzman is being held without bond on this indictment and will appear on January 9, 2026, at 10:00 am before Judge Anthony Brock for his arraignment.
