On January 3rd, 2026, at approximately 10:55 a.m., the Clermont County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting an accidental discharge of a firearm inside of a residence in the 2800 block of State Route 132 of Ohio Township.
The caller advised that a juvenile had been struck by a bullet as a result of the discharge. Initial information indicated the juvenile was conscious, breathing, and responsive, with a single gunshot wound to the back of the head.
Deputies with the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office alongside the Pierce Township Fire and EMS Department arrived on scene at 11:03 a.m. and confirmed the juvenile was alert and communicating with family members. Pierce Twp Fire and EMS transported the juvenile at 11:09 a.m. to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). The juvenile remains in stable condition at CCHMC. Both parents were present at the residence and accompanied the juvenile to the hospital. No other individuals in the residence were injured during the incident.
Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate this matter. Clermont County Children Protective Services were notified and responded to the hospital for their own assessment and follow-up.
As of 3 p.m., the victim remains in stable condition at CCHMC while medical evaluations remain ongoing.
The investigation remains ongoing and will be reviewed by the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office.
