Original Release:

Man arrives at Clermont Mercy Hospital seeking medical treatment for gunshot wound to the leg

On June 3, 2025, at 3:10 am, the Clermont County Communications Center received a report from staff at Clermont Mercy Hospital regarding a male patient who had arrived seeking treatment for an apparent gunshot wound to his right leg.

Deputies from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office responded to the hospital and contacted the victim, identified as Jack Collins (age 37). Deputies confirmed that Collins had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. However, he was uncooperative during questioning and refused to provide details about the incident. Collins’ injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening. He was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he continues to receive medical treatment.

Hospital surveillance footage helped deputies identify the individual who transported Collins to the hospital at 2:40 am. Deputies contacted this person, who stated that he encountered Collins walking along a roadway with a visible gunshot wound and transported him to the hospital. The driver indicated he had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Due to safety concerns, his identity is not being released at this time.

Detectives from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Unit responded to the hospital and attempted to interview Collins further. He remained uncooperative and declined to share any additional information. Patrol deputies and detectives reviewed prior contacts involving Collins and conducted follow-up interviews in an effort to locate a potential crime scene. Through this investigation, a possible shooting location was identified in the 3000 block of Lindale Mount Holly Road in Monroe Township, Clermont County.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the suspected residence and continue to interview potential witnesses to determine the events leading up to the shooting.

This investigation remains ongoing. Further updates will be provided if more information becomes available. Anybody with information is asked to contact Detective Erik Benkelmann at (513) 732-7436.
